Baking cookies...

Makes me happy. I have discovered that baking cookies is something that makes me truly happy. I guess what really started this was the day before halloween and I needed to make something for the halloween potluck that we were having at work. I decided to make some molasses cookies that I had looked up on allrecipes.com. So I made them, and they ended up turning out more than perfect, and I took them to work. Well, the homies at work obviously assumed they were store bought. Of course this pissed me off, considering I had put my hard work, time, and effort into making these. Oh well, it didn't really phase me as I knew that I could bake some pretty good fuckin' cookies.

So that's all. Tonight I made some chocolate chocolate white chocolate chip cookies. Elaine has the utmost faith in my cookies and I love her so much for that! They were absolutely fantastic. Now if I can only get myself a Kitchen Aid stand mixer to complement my cookies! :)

Oh well, wishful thinking...

I am sick...really sick.

So, looking at my symptoms, I believe I have some sort of the flu at the current moment. How can you tell? Well, first, I am always in bed by 11 at the latest, and now I am unable to sleep. I have the usual... chills, the worst fucking headache you can imagine, body aches...the list goes on and on. So, I am currently trying to figure out what I can eat or drink that will induce vomiting.

I just thought I'd share. This really sucks.

Heart

I love Heart. It's really a mystery how I got into this fabulous band. If I can remember back into the cool 80's when my mom rocked the house with Richard Marx and new school Fleetwood Mac (you know, "Lies and Gypsy"). She also played the shit out of 80's Heart. This is not the Heart that most of their true fans really admire about them. Frankly, I couldn't give a crap what decade they rocked in... The first song I can remember getting into was "Stranded." Okay, so I just looked it up, that album Brigade came out in 1990, but close enough. It still sounds very 80's. Anyway, to make an extremely long story short... Elaine and I both got a fill of our Heart fetish (her more than I) and saw them at the OSF (Oregon State Fair, for you losers that don't know the acronym.) They were so fucking awesome. Elaine will tell you that I am in love with Nancy Wilson. Primarily because here is what it said on the album notes for Brigade: "Nancy Wilson: Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Harmonica, Keyboards, Mandolin, Vocals and Background Vocals." Holy shit dude, is she Prince? Does she play 59 instruments all the while scoring the great Cameron Crowe's (her husband) movies?

Nevertheless, the concert was fantastic and the fair was sub-par... as it usually is. I will write more about our journey back to the 503 and Salem.

T-Shirts with "funny" messages

So, while walking around on my break at the prison I work at, I couldn't help but notice three guys and one girl... all with one common interest (besides being fugly): They all wore stupid t-shirts. I can't possibly wrap my brain why someone would feel the need to wear a stupid t-shirt. "Hey Johnnie, have you seen this kewl new shirt I bought? It really shows how retarded I am."

As I'm looking dumbfounded, wondering why people wear these shirts... a thought came to me. Maybe they want that special attention that is just calling for me to say back to them, "Hey fuckstick, nobody gives a fuck, shit, or asshole about you or your stupid t-shirt." If these shirts weren't so prevalent in today's society, I probably wouldn't even think of blogging about it. Unfortunately, when you work at a confined prison as I do, you don't have a choice. Oh well, I'll move on with my life. :)

Guilty Pleasures...

So one of the truly great things in life are guilty pleasures. Everyone has their own special guilty pleasures. On the one day off I have a week by myself, I love nothing more then sitting on the couch and bustin' out a shitty old flick that I used to like. It's hard to get a good bad flick in with Elaine home. She usually welcomes it by going on the computer and spending random hours on YouTube. So, I could watch these when she's here, but it's never as fun! I mean, I have some major zingers I could go on and on about, but today is a special one... The Substitute. And I could probably go on for hours about this gem.

Let me share the two taglines from this movie.

He has a lesson to teach. And nobody's going to have a problem with it.
The most dangerous thing about school used to be the students.

I can only imagine the ruckus that was going on around the Magic Johnson theaters in L.A. when this movie was released. It actually was released, amazingly.

First and foremost, I checked the release date on this flick, and it was released on 04/19/06. There was a similar movie that came out in August of the previous year. What was it called? Oh yeah, Dangerous Minds. Unfortunately, Dangerous Minds didn't have Tom "The Man" Berenger in it. This flick is one of those that you know is so bloody awful that you just think to yourself, "Why do I continue to watch? Do I think it's gotten better since I hated it ten years ago. Or maybe it's one of those, ala North by Northwest, that you just have to watch over and over to really appreciate it?" I really couldn't answer any of those above questions. But I do know that I literally sat and watched this movie from the first opening line of bad dialogue, to the half way point, which I'm sure will set up for the sequel (There are three more sequels, by the way).

And now that I have taken a break from it, I have to contemplate one major pop star that has arisen from it. Marc Anthony!! Marc Anthony plays the villian from VATOS LOCOS! VIVA LA RASA! It's just a brain teaser to see him and Berenger fight it out. Let's see... a future pop star and daddy to J-Slo's kid vs Tom "The Man" Berenger. I'd put my money on Berenger... and this is after TWO Major League and the classic Sniper.

Anyway, I realize this is an odd way to start this blogger thing I've done... but I couldn't get this masterpiece and all of it's goodness out of my head! I look forward to finishing the movie and checking back on if I've truly blown two hours of my life. You can thank the HDNET Movies channel for keeping my attention for this long.

Go HD! :)
